Suncorp

When Suncorp merged with Metway Bank over twenty years ago they looked for a partner to help them transition the brand across their national branch and office network.

SignManager were chosen as the partner to implement the rebrand and from thereon out have enjoyed a successful partnership.

Since the turn of the century we have provided the following services to Suncorp across its national branch and office networks:

• 4 national rebranding programs
• Implementation of cloud-based signage management systems
• Signage design
• Office sky signs
• New branch signage
• Signage maintenance services
• Sponsorship Signage
• Events signage
• Stadium signage

In 2004, after receiving a detailed brief regarding the landmark
Suncorp Stadium, SignManager presented a design that included two major neon signs and a mixture of illuminated, spotlight and digitally printed signage. In total there were 26 different sign types to be manufactured and installed to adequately cover branding requirements. Within a 10- week timeframe, through the process of design, engineering, council permits, manufacture and installation, Suncorp’s iconic signs became a reality. However, a violent hailstorm damaged the glass neon in one of the two external stadium signs.

Suncorp contacted SignManager to redesign them and incorporate the latest weather resistant power-saving LED technology. SignManager researched suitable alternatives and presented a market-leading LED product for Suncorp’s consideration. SignManager demonstrated the product’s impact resistance, power consumption ROI data and a light intensity study which compared the original neon product against the LED alternative. The newer LED solution was practical, cost effective, weather resistant and reliable, and Suncorp decided to proceed with the newer technology.

Subsequently, when Suncorp transitioned their brand to Suncorp Bank, hundreds of branches needed to be rebranded in a short space of time. Using our existing database to generate a list of all signs in their network for preliminary budgeting we saved time and expenses associated with an initial site audit. The scope of work was then developed and tendered to a panel of qualified contractors, to establish the best market price,. The reimage was then rolled out and unveiled at more than 330 branches over a single weekend. Thanks to streamlined processes and procurement strategies, we were able to deliver the project on time, and under budget.

A few years later, Suncorp decided to self manage their rebranding program with several different suppliers and mixed results. SignManager was called to help with 40 branch refurbishments, branding manuals, site audits, annual preventative sky signage maintenance, as well as ad- hoc network-wide trading hour upgrades to 114 branches over 3 months. SignManager continue to successfully control and reduce Suncorp’s signage budget with a strong focus on value engineering.
